TV movie-like feature concerning a damaged submarine and attempts to rescue it. Typical jaded movie fare from the tail end of the 70's. Put Christopher Reeve on the map though. 2nd release for this disk is much better.
Reasonably engaging disaster movie suffers from TV movie values and a pretty dopey script. Heston is remarkably restrained (probably because he's been through this so many times already), but Cox goes unhinged faster than a caretaker at the Overlook, which strains credibility (or aren't submariners trained for high stress situations?) The domestic side with the submariners' wives is also turgid and adds to the TV movie atmosphere, but seems a prerequisite for this sort of film.
