|During a chance meeting in a nursing home waiting lounge one afternoon, an elderly patient (Tandy) begins to tell a random visitor (Bates, a frustrated middle-aged housewife) an intriguing true story that happened years ago in the 1930s, in Alabama of a tragedy, a murder, and how the Whistle Stop cafe became what it is.
Yet another memorable performance from the wonderful Jessica Tandy in the twilight of her career (Cocoon, Batteries Not Included, and Driving Miss Daisy were all within a six-year period of this film). Very few people will have a bad word to say about this beautiful sleeper movie. ~ The Lord
